7/170 Priory Farmhouse
Farmhouse. Mid-to late C17 with later additions and alterations. Roughly coursed
limestone rubble; concrete tile roof. 2 storeys, possibly with raised eaves to
front, and attic. Chamfered mullion windows with dripstones to left and right of
central 6-panel door under C20 open gabled timber porch, of 3 lights to first
floor and 4 to ground floor. 2 late C19 gabled eaves dormers. Integral end
stacks, left with moulded dripstone, paired and rebated shafts and moulded
capping, right with shaft rebuilt above moulded dripstone. Left gable end has
2-light mullion window to first floor and narrow rectangular window on ground
floor, both with dripstones. Rear has gabled staircase projection and 3-light
mullion window with dripstone on ground floor to right. Tie beam ends visible
below eaves. Low C19 range attached to right has boarded door to left and two
C19 casements to right, all with wood lintels, right window with C20 gabled
dormer breaking eaves directly bove. Integral end stack with dripstone and C19
yellow brick shaft. Equal-height range projecting at right angles to rear.
Interior. Inspection not possible at time of resurvey (August 1987) but likely
to be of interest. Formerly known as Tithe Farmhouse.
