The Homestead
GV II

Farmhouse. Late C17 with later alterations and C20 remodelling. Coursed
rubble; some ashlar dressings; stone slate roof. L-plan. 2 storeys and
attic; 4-window range at right angles to street. Stone mullioned windows
on ground floor. 2 with hollow chamfers flank an inserted C20 window,
presumably replacing a door. French windows to left in former dairy with
tripartite large-paned sash windows in end gable. 3-light casements on
first floor; 3 gabled dormers have casements with glazing bars. 2 ridge
chimneys. Former barn in L-shaped wing to right, now part of the house
with C20 porch in angle, adjoins former cottage. Stair tower to rear of
main house.
