Dated 1852. Formerly the Corn Hall and Agricultural Library. Squared
coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. Of 2 storeys, the lower an open
loggia with 4 Roman arches; ashlar quoins; 4 tall sash windows in rusticated
surrounds with small cornices; moulded band and eaves cornice; parapeted
and gables; tiles. Moulded stone cartouche with above date surmounting
an inscribed marble tablet dated 1887 in remembrance of William Penny
Brooks.
Nos 53 to 61 (consec), County Library and No 63 form a group
