House, now inn. Late C15 or early C16, re-modelled early C19 and mid-C20.
Timber framed, now roughcast and rendered to front with gable painted
black and white in imitation of timber frame, slate roof. Original
plan a range of 2 or 3 framed bays with projecting jettied gable to
centre now cut back and underbuilt, early C19 flat-roofed additions
to left and right. 2 storeys; late C19 casement to first floor of gable
with similar windows to left and right; horizontal sliding sash with C20 shutters
to ground floor beneath gable; C19 open-pedimented doorcases to left
and right, left with 6-panel door and right with boarded door; rendered
end stack to left. Timber frame exposed to left wall of passageway
(behind boarded door to right), square and rectangular panels; formerly
external segmental arch with bottoms of 2 close-set vertical posts
visible above; flat joists to roof of passage and evidence for former
jetty to rear. Interior: majority of ceiling beams and lintel of
inglenook fireplace boxed in.
