House, now divided into 2 shops. Circa 1600 extensively re-modelled
early C19 with later additions and alterations. Red brick encapsulating
timber frame, slate roof. 2 storeys, dentilled eaves cornice; 2-window
front, 3-light C20 casement to left and 4-paned sash to right, both
with segmental heads; late C19 shop fronts with bracketed hoods and
half-glazed doors, formerly with rectangular overlights, to left and
right; passageway to Left; framing: 2 square panels exposed to back
wall above passage. Interior: square panels and long straight tension
brace exposed to right-hand wall of No. 59, heavy cross beam with
straight-cut stops and joists with ogee stops to front and further
chamfered beams to rear; external framing of right gable end visible
through small C19 casement upstairs, collar and tie beam truss with
vertical struts and short straight corner braces similar to left gable
end of No 61 (Bell Inn) (q.v.); part of rear wall-plate also preserved.
