House, latterly shops now offices. C16 or C17 with later additions and
alterations. Painted brick concealing timber frame, slate roof. 2
storeys; 4-window front, late C19 three-light casements below eaves;
ground floor retains 6 fluted pilasters from C19 shop fronts but has
large late C20 fixed-light windows inserted; prominent reddish brown
brick stack behind ridge to right at junction with short gabled range
to rear has top re-built in C20 red brick. Interior: main ground-floor
rooms have chamfered ceiling beams with straight-cut stops and joists,
square panelling exposed to cross walls upstairs, roof in 4 bays has
trusses concealed at time of re-survey (August 1985) but cambered tie
beam visible to right gable end.
