Gate piers, railings and boundary wall to north of Sweeney Hall

Gate piers, railings and boundary wall. Gate piers: probably late C18.
Limestone ashlar. Square section with moulded plinth and capping,
panelled sides and pointed finials. Wrought-iron railings on low
stone walls with decorated pointed finials and standards terminate
to south in ha-ha (q.v.) and to north abut against boundary wall:
1718 (datestone) but partly re-built c.1860. Roughly coursed limestone
rubble, part with C19 stepped gabled ashlar coping incorporating
arched entrance on north side. Encloses roughly oval-shaped area
with several angled breaks and returns to link with outbuilding in
courtyard to rear of Sweeney Hall (q.v.). Datestone "B/TS/1718"at
south-east corner.
