Farmhouse, now house. Early C17 with later additions and alterations.
Timber framed with plaster and painted brick infill, partly re-built
in red brick and dressed limestone blocks, yellow brick and rubblestone
additions, slate roof. Main range of 4 framed bays with C19 gabled
addition at right-angles to left; half-length outshut to rear with
late C20 and C19 single-storey additions behind. 2 storeys; framing:
exposed to right gable end, square panels, 3 from cill to slightly
cambered tie beam, v-struts from collar; gable also has 2 mid-C19
cast-iron casements to ground floor and a contemporary cast-iron pivot
window above; main front has one C20 casement and one C19 casement to
right below eaves to right of lean-to porch in angle with gabled
addition to left; prominent ridge stack to left with twin diagonal brick
shafts, further lateral stacks flanking right gable end and C19 brick
stack with twin diagonal shafts to right side of gabled addition.
Interior: deep-chamfered ceiling beams with ogee and run-out stops
and heavy joists, massive infilled inglenook fireplace beneath ridge
stack; double-purlin roof has queen-strut trusses concealed by wallpaper
at time of resurvey (July 1985).
