Barn. Early to mid-C17 with later alterations. Weatherboarded
timber frame on uncoursed limestone and conglomerate rubble plinth,
corrugated iron roof. Framing: square panels, 3 from high cill to
wall-plate with long straight tension braces, south side weatherboarded,
north with short horizonal plank infill; left gable end has 3 vertical
struts from tie beam to collar and V-struts from latter (c.f. right gable
of Upper Sweeney Farmhouse), similar arrangement to right gable end but
lower part obscured by later rubblestone addition (not included);
double (former threshing) doors in second bay from west with 2 eaves
hatches (right now blocked) to right on south and C20 double doors to
left on north; door to far left on north gives access to space under
floor. Interior: staggered double-purlin roof _in 4 bays with raking
struts from tie beams supporting principal rafters; timber framed
partitions with long straight tension braces rest on dwarf stone walls.
