Farmhouse. Probably early C16, re-modelled late C17/early C18 with
later additions and alterations. Part timber framed (now with red brick
infill), largely re-built in uncoursed limestone rubble, slate roof
with coped verges to left gable end of main range. Main range has
short gabled range (former granary) projecting at right-angles to
rear forming T-plan; lower probably C19 agricultural building against
right gable end of main range. One storey and attic; one mid-C19
casement with gabled eaves dormer directly above to right of roughly
central half-glazed C20 door under gabled wooden porch; framing: exposed
to gable of rear range, slightly cambered tie beam with vertical
struts to upper and lower collars, blocked first-floor doorway and
flight of steps beneath; large integral stone stack to back wall
of main range. Interior: massive cross-beamed ceiling to main ground-
floor room has deep chamfering and straight-cut stops, heavy joists
with a variety of chamfer stops; infilled fireplace to back wall has
chamfered segmental-shaped wooden lintel; late C17 straight-flight
staircase turning at right-angles to left and right on first floor has
carved bottom newel post with decoration identical to that at Plas
Pentre-Cefn (q.v.), open vase-shaped balusters; chamfered ceiling beam
to main bedroom has bar stop.
