II
Model Farmbuildings. Circa 1875 by Lloyd Williams and Underwood of Denbigh with minor C20 additions and alterations. Yellow Ruabon brick with some ashlar dressings; slate roofs.

Grouped around two yards, south yard for stabling and carts, north yard for livestock, partly separated by large byre with loft and lower extension to west. West side of south yard defined by brick wall, west side of north yard by threshing barn and engine house and north side of north yard by milking shed. One and two storeys.

East entrance front: in symmetrical Italianate style spanning full length of two yards. Round-arched cart entries to yards through double gates in wider and taller central bay of the five bay ranges (outer arches blind and segmental-headed) to either side of the three bay pedimented projecting end wall of byre. Each range terminates in a slightly projecting blind three bay corner pavilion (left formerly coachman's house) which has a pedimented gable and lunette window. Moulded and dentilled cornices to the three pediments and above the cart entrances. Pediment of central projection has round-headed arch with moulded keystone and banded rusticated brick pillars framing window of three round-headed lights (stone) supported on cast-iron columns with Early English-style capitals and bases. Tympanum has circular stone opening possibly formerly housing a clock; blind segmental-headed openings with keystones to left and right of window.

Inside south yard: west gable wall of byre has twin round-headed window with loft door to right over inserted C20 entrance. Threshing barn on west side of north yard has pairs of triple slit vents to either side of opposing cart entrances with wooden sliding doors on external tracks. Single sets of air vents on each floor to gables, which have projecting single-purlin ends.

Engine house: to north-west of barn, square tower with shallow hipped roof and wide eaves. Chimney stack, also square in plan, projects from south-west corner: octagonal shaft with stone cornice and parapet. Tower has three narrow vertical recessed panels to each side, rising from a high offset plinth with strips separating recesses offset at intermediate level. Upper and lower ends of recesses are corbelled; offset courses and bands picked out in black glazed brick.

Four bay cart shelter on south side of south yard has continuous chamfered lintel with three brick pillars dividing vehicle bays; segmental-headed windows above to left, second from left and right bays with segmental-headed boarded door to third bay from left. External steps to right gable end.

Interior: byre has loft floor supported by braced chamfered beams and stone corbels.
