Description

SELATTYN AND GOBOWEN C.P. SELATTYN
SJ 23 SE
4/46 Churchyard wall and
lych gate to Church
of St Mary
GV II
Churchyard wall and lych gate. Wall: probably C18 but reusing earlier
materials. Roughly coursed gritstone and conglomerate rubble with triangular-
shaped coping. Steep banked roughly oval-shaped enclosure, suggestive
of an early origin for the churchyard. Part of an incised Celtic cross-
head has been built into the wall on the south side. Lych-gate. Dated
1892 in memory of Emily, Lady Harlech. Timber framed gabled structure
on low stone walls; machine tile roof and cusped bargeboards. Situated
at south-east entrance to churchyard. The extension of the churchyard
to the north-east is not included. Included for group value.
