House, now divided into 2 cottages. C14 or C15 core remodelled C17 or early
C18 with considerable late C20 alterations. Rendered brick incorporating one
true cruck truss; slate roof. Original plan an open-hall house (number of
bays not known), floored over in C17 and considerably altered late C20. 2
storeys with dentilled eaves cornice; 4 late C20 casements directly below eaves
and 2 to ground floor, one to left and one to right. No. 4 (right part of
building) has garage doors to left and roughly central entrance through C20
door. Massive stepped external end stack to right and ridge stack to left
at junction with No. 6. Interior. Large true cruck truss has arch-braced
collar beam and king-strut visible beneath plaster in left first-floor room
of No. 4 with part of feet visible in cupboard on ground floor. Another
cruck truss, to right of surviving cruck, is said to have been removed during
alterations to the building c.1960.
