Level-crossing keeper's cottage. Circa 1848 with later additions and alterations. Roughly coursed limestone rubble with angle quoins; slate roof with fretted bargeboards and pointed finials. Cruciform plan; Tudor Gothic style. Two storeys. Cast-iron latticed casements, one on each floor to left gable and in canted bay to ground floor of centre gable with two-light window above. Entrance in angle between left and centre gables; four-centred arch with hollow spandrels and ledged and braced door. Central red brick ridge stack with top rebuilt in late C19 brick. Included for group value.
