Farmhouse, now house. Late C17 or early C18 but probably incorporating
part of an earlier building; later additions and alterations. Red
brick (mixed bond) with red sandstone blocks on ground floor to left
gable end; slate roof, graded to rear. Original house of 3 bays with
central baffle entry; projecting gabled range to left (possibly formerly
agricultural) added later (see straight joint to left gable end) forming
present L-plan. Single-bay cowhouse attached to right gable end is
also a later addition. 2 storeys with floor band to long range.
This has C19 wooden mullioned and transomed windows to left and right
of 4-panel door (top panels now glazed) under C19 flat-roofed trellised
porch to left, those to first floor directly below eaves and those to
ground floor with segmental heads. Similar windows to gabled range,
one on each floor and both with segmental heads. Infilled segmental-
headed window immediately to right of right ground-floor window to long
range and another to left of cowhouse. Red brick ridge stack directly
above entrance has projecting bands and C19 purple brick capping.
Integral lateral stack to left return of gabled range which has infilled
narrow rectangular air vents. Cross-shaped air vents to cowhouse.
Red brick outshut to rear of long range in centre. Interior. Inspection
not possible at time of resurvey (November 1986) but likely to be of
interest. C19 red brick outbuilding at right angles to rear on right
of long range is not of special architectural interest.
