Farmhouse, now disused. Early C17, eaves raised late C17 with later
additions and alterations. Timber framed with rendered woven and painted
red brick infill on uncoursed limestone rubble plinth, higher to centre;
graded slate roof. 2-cell house-part with contemporary 2-bay byre attached
to right. One storey and attic. Framing: square panels, 2 from cill
to original wall-plate with one above to raising of eaves; long straight
tension braces to rear. C19 casement in panel of framing to left and
C19 gabled eaves dormer to centre. Another small C19 casement to top
of plinth to left of C19 rubblestone and brick lean-to to right. This
has corrugated iron roof and segmental-headed stable door to right.
Mid-to late C18 red brick to left gable end, which has integral end stack.
Rubblestone projection behind housing bread oven. Interior. Framing
intact, including to cross-walls. Ground-floor room of house-part has
chamfered spine beam with straight-cut stops. Partly infilled inglenook
fireplace with C19 cast-iron cooking range; inset cupboard to right has
plank door with strap hinges. Oak winder staircase to left with plain
handrail. Central smoke-blackened queen-strut truss with curved principal
rafters. Wall between house and byre has high red brick plinth with close-
set vertical posts and halved branches with lathe and plaster infill above
to apex. Byre (always open to roof) has queen-strut trusses with curved
principal rafters, that to gable end with V-struts from collar. Slots
for trenched single purlins and raised roof also of single-purlin type.
C19 cowstalls in lean-to.
