Farmhouse. Probably C17 incorporating parts of an earlier building;
later additions and alterations. Rendered rubblestone and timber frame
apparently partly of cruck construction;graded slate roof with rendered
coped verges. 3-unit baffle-entry plan apparently incorporating part
of an open-hall house. One storey and attic. Early C20 casements, 2
to left (left metal) and one to right of wide gabled C20 timber porch
with glazed outer doors. Hip-roofed dormers in bottom of roof slope,
left larger. Rubblestone ridge stack with dripstone immediately to right
of porch has top rebuilt in C19 red brick; similar external end stack
to right. Timber frame partially exposed to rear on left. Rubblestone
lean-to to rear on right probably houses bread oven. Interior. Inspection
not possible at time of resurvey (November 1986) but left ground-floor
room noted as having heavy joists (dairy to rear). Centre room has chamfered
spine beam and joists and infilled inglenook fireplace with segmental
wooden lintel. Possible cruck blade to front in line with corner of porch.
Plank door to left side of lobby. Right ground-floor room has chamfered
spine beam and joists. C20 timber hean-to attached to right gable end
is not of special architectural interest.
