Farmhouse. Late C16 with later additions and alterations. Partly timber-
framed with plaster infill, other parts roughcast over brown brick (random
bond), machine tile and slate roofs, projecting end stacks. Roughly L-shaped
in plan with short parallel range and minor later additions to rear; the
oldest surviving part of the house is the projecting gabled cross wing to
the right. 2 storeys and attic; 2-storeyed main range of 3 bays (C17?);
Cl9 multi-paned wooden casements; entrance to right, C20 door with C18 overlight
under C20 gabled hood; cross wing probably of 3 framed bays; large square
panels with herringbone struts; the gable has overhanging eaves and a broken
finial, jettying to first and attic floors, moulded bressumers, that to attic
supported on brackets carved with human figures and grotesque faces; beneath
both brackets on the left hand corner are colonettes with cable moulding;
the ground floor has been partially underbuilt, the post on the left being
a C20 replacement; C19 multi-framed casements on ground and first floors.
Interior. Good late C17 staircase with square moulded balusters and carved
newels; the front room to the cross-wing has a fireplace with a massive stone
lintel and a panelled ceiling.
