SO 3288 BISHOP'S CASTLE C.P. CHURCH STREET (west side)

- and former stables to
rear

House, now inn with stabling. C17, remodelled in mid to late C19.
Timber framed, mostly rebuilt in limestone rubble; stuccoed, incised
to represent ashlar; slate roof with catslide over outshut to rear.
L-plan. 2 storeys and attic. 3 mid- to late-C19 gabled dormers with
2-light casements, semi-integral end stacks with brick top stages,
and tall lateral brick stack to rear. 3 window front; mid- to late-C19
wooden casements with thin mullions and transoms; central boarded door
with late C19 gabled porch projecting onto pavement. Late C19 hipped-
roofed addition to right with one 2-light casement on each floor.
Interior: remains of timber frame. Wing to rear: late-C19; painted
brick with slate roof; 2 storeys; 2 lateral brick stacks to north;
late-C19 casements. Stables adjoining to west: late-C19 coursed
limestone rubble and slate roof, stepped up slope; 2 storeys; 2 first
floor boarded loft doors, 2 ground floor boarded doors, and window off-
centre to left. Late-C19 one storey brick addition to left.
