SO 3288 BISHOP'S CASTLE C.P. CHURCH STREET (west side)

GV II

House, now divided. C16 with mid to late C19 refacing, partial
rebuilding, and addition. Roughcast timber frame, rebuilt in painted
brick to left with coursed limestone rubble plinth; slate roof, graded
stone slats to left at rear. Rebuilt probable former open hall to
left with 2 framed bay gabled cross wing projecting to right. 2 storeys.
2 semi-integral brick end-stacks to left and central brick stack off-
ridge to front. Left-hand range: 2-window front with 2-light casements;
5 steps up to central boarded door. Cross wing: evidence of former
jettied gable (see bracket to left); one 2-light casement on each
floor; mid to late C19 addition to right with first floor 2-light
casement, ground floor 3-light casement to right, and half-glazed door
to left with pilastered surround, frieze and cornice. Interior: C16
newel staircase in cross wing.
