of Acton House Farmhouse

House, now barn. C15 with C17 and mid to late C19 alterations and additions.
Timber framed with weatherboarding and C20 corrugated iron cladding to south,
coursed limestone rubble plinth and addition to north; corrugated iron and
stone slate roof, hipped over C19 cross wing to north with catslide over
outshut. Former open hall house of 3 framed bays with one framed bay
addition to south and C19 cross wing to north. Framing: square panels.
One storey with inserted C19 floor in third framed bay from south and
2 storey cross wing. West front: central gabled eaves loft dormer with
boarded loft door and boarded loft door in cross wing to left. 2 ground
floor boarded doors. Interior: 3 full cruck trusses; 2 trusses to north
with Alcock apex type B; former hall cruck truss to south with continuous
chamfer to lower part of blades, now removed arched bracing, cambered collar,
inclined queen struts above collar, and Alcock apex type L2. Queen strut
truss between first and second bays from south; double staggered-purlin
