Farmhouse. Circa 1812, probably by John Carline (1761-1835) of
Shrewsbury for William Botfield. Rendered probably onto coursed
rubble; hipped slate roof. T-plan with entrance in angle facing
North-east. 2 storeys. Plinth, deep eaves and large ridge
stack to arm of T at rear. South-east front: 3 bays; segmental-
headed glazing bar sashes, blind central ground floor window and
windows in right-hand return front; entrance in angle of T to
North-east with 6-panelled door (lower panels flush), panelled blind
reveals and soffit, panel above door, and panelled pilastered surround
supporting bracketed hood. One storey. Kitchen wing at rear with
large central stack. Samuel Smith (a builder-architect from Madeley)
is also recorded as having prepared drawings for alterations to
Shadwell Hall (probably not executed) and designed farmhouses at
Shadwell and Llanhedrick in 1809 for William Botfield. M. Colvin,
