House, now 4 houses and disused shop. Probably circa C15 with
mid and late C19 alterations and additions. Rendered timber frame
(exposed to North), coursed limestone partial refacing and
additions, painted brick addition, and slate roof. Former hall
house with former open hall of 2 framed bays and former solar
end to North of one framed bay; later additions to North-east and
South-west. Framing: close studding with middle rail. 2 storeys
and attic. Integral brick end-stack to left, large brick ridge-
stack off-centre to right with pilaster shafts, C20 external lateral
brick stack to front at left, and integral lateral brick to later
wing at right. 2 mid-C19 three-light wooden casements with transoms
on each floor to left, central half-glazed door with bracketed porch.
2 projecting gabled additions to right, that to left with first floor
3-light segmental-headed casement and ground floor plate-glass
shopfront with blocked central door, and that to right probably mid-
C19 with first floor 3-light C20 casement and ground floor shopfront
with 3-light window to right, half-glazed door to left and continuous
fascia above. Entrance to No. 7 at rear. Interior: former screens
passage-wall between first and second bays from North, close studding
with middle rail and blocked four-centred arched doorway; circa 1600
inserted floor and stack with chamfered and stopped fireplace
lintel and jambs, in 2 right-hand bays.
