House, now farmbuilding. C14 or C15 with probably late C16 inserted floor
and stack, C18 or C19 refacing, and C20 alterations. Timber framed, of
cruck construction; later coursed sandstone rubble refacing, partly
rebuilt in C20 concrete block; corrugated iron roof. Former hall house
of 3 framed bays. One storey and attic. Stack off-centre to right,
truncated above ridge; raking eaves-dormer off-centre to left. 2 ground
floor windows to left; boarded door in centre with damaged domed bread
oven projecting to right; later rebuilding to right with 2 boarded doors.
Interior: 3 pairs of full cruck trusses with smoke blackening (Alcock
apex-type B), timber framed cross-walls with woven panels; probably late
C16 inserted floor in central bay with chamfered beam and post; probably
late C16 inserted stack has large open fireplace with chamfered lintel.
Despite its external appearance, this is a fine example of a cruck-framed
former hall house. Alcock, p.96.
