Barn. Mid- to late C17 with later alterations. Weatherboarded timber
frame with corrugated iron cladding to south side and uncoursed limestone
rubble to left gable end; slate roof. 2 levels; 4 eaves hatches on
south side with doors to left, right and centre. Interior: framing
visible; square panels, 3 from cill to wall-plate; weatherboarded and
timber framed partitions with long straight tension braces. Double-
purlin roof in 4 bays has Queen-strut trusses with V-struts from collar
to left gable end and first bay from right; 2 trusses have raking struts
from tie beams supporting principal rafters. Lower Aldress Farmhouse
is not included in this list.
