SO 29 NW

7/56 East Dudston Farmhouse
-

- II

Farmhouse. Early C19 remodelling of earlier building, extended mid-
C19 with later additions and alterations. Red brick, slate roofs.
Early C19 house of 3 bays is probably a remodelling of an earlier building
with slightly projecting gabled wing added to left c.1850. 2 storeys
with attic to main range. 1:3 windows, mainly C20 casements with C19
segmental heads to main range except lower left which has inserted canted
bay window; mid-C19 cast-iron casements with plain stone wedge lintels
to gabled wing. Main range has central entrance; 4-panel door (top
panels glazed) with rectangular barred overlight under late C19 wide
gabled trellised porch. Integral end stack to left and 2 similar stacks
to right, one in front of and one behind ridge. C19 single-storey and
2-storey gabled additions to rear have toothed eaves cornice and dentilled
eaves cornice respectively. There is also part of what may be a wall-
post of an earlier building to back wall of main range. Interior: inspection
not possible at time of resurvey (November 1985) but likely to be of
interest.
