Farmhouse, now disused. C17, eaves raised and front wall rebuilt late
C18 with later additions and alterations. Timber framed on rubblestone
plinth with front wall rebuilt in stone, now roughcast; slate roof,
graded to rear. 3-unit baffle-entry plan. 2 storeys; late C19 and
C20 casements (some cast iron), one to left and one to centre directly
below eaves; ground floor has 3 casements to left of gabled porch over
original entrance and one to right; subsidiary boarded door to right
with gabled hood. Red brick ridge stack immediately to right of porch
and external end stack to left with red brick shaft. Mid- to late
C19 lean-to rubblestone dairy to rear has cast-iron latticed window.
Interior: timber frame exposed to back wall and cross-walls; square
and rectangular panels, 3 from cill to wall-plate, with long straight
tension braces to main cross-wall. Left ground-floor room has chamfered
cross-beam with elaborate ogee stops; straight-flight C19 oak staircase
to back wall with flat moulded balusters and C20 fireplace to external
stack. Middle room (present kitchen) has chamfered ceiling beam, also
with elaborate ogee stops and inglenook fireplace with massive wooden
lintel. Chamfered spine beam with heavy joists to right room. Plank
and muntin doors with pointed strap hinges throughout on both floors.
First-floor rooms have original oak floorboards and there is a cast-
iron Victorian fireplace to left room; large rendered stepped brick
stack to right wall of middle room. Staggered single- purlin roof in
3 bays with collar and tie beam centre trusses.
