Barn approx. 20m south of Bird Farmhouse

Barn. Mid- to late C17 with later alterations. Timber framed with
red brick infill on north side and west gable end, weatherboarded to
south side and east gable end; corrugated iron roof. Formerly of 4
bays but west bay now demolished. 2 levels. Framing: 2 rectangular
panels with short straight tension braces above high brick plinth to
front but better preserved internally to back wall (see below). 2
stable doors to right, right approached by external steps and wide
inserted entrance to left with segmental-headed doorway to far left;
eaves hatch. Interior: framing visible to back wall (same as front
but better preserved); raised threshing floor to centre with space
beneath and loft to left bay. Single-purlin roof has 2 Queen-strut
trusses to left with V-struts from collar and 2 Queen-post trusses
to right. Included for group value. Bird Farmhouse is not included
in this list.
