Barn. Probably C17, extended early C18 with later alterations. Weatherboarded
timber frame with red brick (English bond) to back wall, right gable
end and rear range; slate roofs. Original barn of 5 framed bays with
2-bay range added to rear in early C18, forming present L-plan. 2
levels; eaves hatch to left of centre with C20 half-glazed door and
stable door to left; wide inserted cart entrance in fourth bay from left
with door to far right. Interior: timber frame visible; square panels,
much altered but some (including to cross-partitions) with original
woven and wattle and daub infill. Roof of main range has short straight
tension braces from wall-posts to tie beams, which have a mixture of
Queen-struts and raking struts to principal rafters, double purlins:
an unusual feature is- the paired trusses to the first and third bays
from left. Lofts on 2 levels except over cart entrance. Collar and
tie beam roof with vertical and raking struts to C18 range.
