Description

BUCKNELL C.P. BUCKNELL
SO 37 SE
12/17 Ice house immediately
to south-east of The
Old Farmhouse
GV II

Ice house. Probably early C19. Roughly coursed limestone rubble. Segmental-
headed entrance to tunnel, blocked at far end. Covered by an earth mound,
probably originally circular in plan, now truncated on south side with rubble
revetment wall. The mound, scheduled as a castle motte (A.M. County No.
285), was probably constructed simply to cover the ice house.
