Railway station. Dated 1860 with minor later additions and alterations.
Rock-faced limestone ashlar; machine tile roofs with fish scale bands and
ornamental cresting. Elaborately cusped bargeboards to overhanging verges;
stone ridge and end stacks with octagonal ceramic chimney pots. One and
2 storeys. Wooden mullioned and transomed windows throughout. Lower range
to left has 3 bracketed gabled canopies, that to centre over infilled doorway
and left and right over windows. Canted bay window to left gable end with
blank stone shield in recess above. Centre section has prominent, slightly
projecting gable to left with window on each floor and datestone "1860" in
recessed quatrefoil to apex. 2 windows on each floor to right, upper right
in steeply pitched gable breaking eaves. Lower section to right has window
to ground floor and flat-roofed single-storey range to right again has window
to left and 2 pointed doorways with boarded doors. Built for the Knighton Railway
which was engineered by Henry Robertson.
