3/62 Olde Church House

Cottage. Mid-C17, extended in mid-to late C19 with later additions and
alterations. Timber framed with rendered infill, roughcast to left
wall of gable-fronted range; rubblestone addition to right has planted
timber frame to front; slate roof. Original plan a 2-cell cottage
aligned north-south with 2-storey gabled range added to west in C19 forming
present L-plan. One storey and gable-lit attic to C17 part, 2 storeys to
C19 addition. Framing: to C17 part; square panels, 3 from cill to wall-
plate. Queen-strut truss to front with upper and lower collars and
projecting double-purlin ends. Limestone slab masonry to rear gable, which
has stepped external end stack. C20 metal casement to first floor of front
gable and infilled window to ground floor. Entrance through C20 flat-roofed
planted timber frame porch in angle with C19 range, which has C19 casement on
each floor and internal end stack with red brick shaft. External lateral
stack with C20 red brick top to east wall of C17 part. Interior: not
inspected but C17 part likely to be of interest.
