Farmhouse. Early to mid-Cl7, extended mid-C18 and late C19 with later
additions and alterations. Timber framed with rendered infill, mid-
C18 part on high regularly coursed limestone block plinth; painted brick
additions. Slate roofs. Basic L-plan comprising C17 gabled range
projecting to right with long range to left; lower C19 addition to
left of long range. 2 storeys with semi-basement to left of C18 part.
Framing: C17 part has square panels, 4 from cill to wall-plate with long
straight tension braces. Hewn jetty to first floor of gable has carved
corner brackets; V-struts from collar. Corrugated iron clad to rear
with double-purlin ends. C18 part has light vertical posts with long
straight tension braces. 5 multi-paned C19 casements in panels of
framing to first floor of gable and 3 below bressumer to ground floor.
2-light leaded casement in angle with C18 range and C20 French window below.
C18 range has C20 casements on either side of roughly central 6-panel door.
C19 casement lighting semi-basement to left. Red brick ridge stack with
plain bands to right and external end stack to left. Late C19 addition
has 2 contemporary casements on each floor to front. 2-storey uncoursed
limestone rubble outshut to rear of C18 range. Interior: inspection not
possible at time of resurvey (September 1986) but likely to be of interest.
