Churchyard memorial and railed enclosure. Circa 1840. Sandstone ashlar
(to monument) with regularly coursed and dressed rubble to flanking walls.
Wrought-iron railings with urn-capped standards resting on low walls. Monument.
Projection to centre has oval inscription panel commemorating William Smith
(died 1840) and his wife, Ann (died 1824) flanked by slender decorated vase-shaped
balusters; semi-circular pediment to top with decorated ball finials to left
and right [right missing at time of resurvey (August 1986)] surmounted by
wooden pediment (right side missing at time of resurvey). Further inscriptions
to other members of Smith family to sides and below. Railed enclosure contains
6 stone grave slabs, either marking remains of those referred to on monument
or of other members of the Smith family.
