Vine Cottage

Cottage. Probably mid-C17, extended late C17 with later additions and
alterations. Timber framed with painted brick infill, slate roofs.
2-cell plan with slightly later lower gabled addition to left. One
storey and attic; framing: square panels, 3 from cill to wall-plate,
short straight tension braces, right-hand gable end re-built in red
brick; irregular fenestration, mid-C20 metal casements, 3 on ground
floor of main section with roughly central French window, 2 similar
casements to gabled addition; contemporary flat-roofed dormers in
roof slope, 2 to main section and one to gabled addition; entrance
through C20 lean-to addition to rear, but formerly to left of main
section (C20 casement now inserted in its place); integral end stack
to right with red brick shaft. Interior: timber frame substantially
intact with chamfered spine beam and heavy joists to main ground-floor
room, wide inglenook fireplace. Late C19 and C20 extensions to rear
and right not of special architectural interest.
