8/64 Bowling Green Cottage
II

Cottage. C17 with later additions and alterations. Timber framed
with plaster infill, thatch roof. 2-cell plan. One storey and attic;
framing: square panels, 3 from cill to wall-plate, long straight tension
braces and v-struts from collar to left gable end; right gable end
and back wall encased in uncoursed limestone and gritstone rubble; late
C20 casements to left and right of blocked doorway to right of centre
with eyebrow eaves dormer to right; integral end stack to right with red
brick shaft; present entrance to rear through boarded door with mid-Cl9
segmental head. C19 rubblestone lean-to to left with stable door. Interior:
not inspected but noted as having chamfered ceiling beams and heavy joists
to ground-floor rooms.
