Cottage. Late C17 with C18 alterations and C20 addition. Timber framed,
on coursed rubblestone plinth with plastered and painted brick infill;
coursed sandstone rubble end walls, that to west painted and that to
east rendered and probably a C18 or C19 rebuilding of the timber frame
up to eaves level; corrugated iron roof. 2 framed bays, one bay plus
smaller unheated bay to east. Framing. light square panels, 3 from
sole-plate to wall-plate. One storey and attic. North front: raking
eaves dormer off-centre to right with 2-light metal casement; integral
brick end stack to right. 2-window front; C20 two-light metal casements;
central doorway with C20 painted brick porch. Collar and tie-beam truss
with queen struts and v-struts exposed in left-hand gable end. C20
one-storey brick addition set back to left. 3 windows to rear with doorway
between first and second from left. Interior: timber framed square-panelled
partition wall still retaining one woven panel; large tapering stone
stack has open fireplace with chamfered lintel; one chamfered ceiling
beam with ogee stops; joists and floor boards removed at time of survey
(July 1985); roof with central collar and tie-beam truss and single purlins.
