Description

SJ 30 NE WESTBURY C.P. -

9/100 Barn approximately 30
- metres north-east of
Wigley Farmhouse

GV II

Barn. C18, with minor later alterations. Red brick with plain tile
roof. Approximately 4 bays; South-west front: double boarded doors
to cart entry to left of centre; inserted C19 window to right with
some rebuilding in C19 red brick adjacent to C18 right gable; boarded
door to hayloft at right end. Raised stepped verges to both gables.
Narrow ventilation slits throughout. Ridge profile implies that the
original roof structure survives. Permission to make detailed
inspection of the exterior and of the interior was refused at time of
resurvey. (August 1985). The minor C19 alterations do not detract
from the character of this substantial C18 barn situated close to
Wigley Farmhouse (q.v.).
