Description

BOMERE HEATH C.P. BERWICK ROAD (west side)
SJ 41 SE
10/73 Garden railings, gates and
- gate piers adjoining Berwick
House to south-east

GV II

Garden railings, gates and gate piers. Circa 1878, probably by Stevens of
Birmingham. Pair of squire grey sandstone ashlar gate piers with chamfered
rustication, moulded cornice and urn finials. Pair of low, delicate wrought-
iron gates with dog bars, scrolled panels and cresting to centre. Flanking
sections of delicate wrought-iron railings. Stevens carried out alterations
and additions to Berwick House (q.v.) in 1878. The gates and railings link
the house with the walls of the late C19 formal gardens (not included on this
list) laid out to the south-east.
