GV II

Farmbuildings. Early C19. Red brick with plain tile roofs. U-plan range
around farmyard with an enclosing wall to south. North range: 2 storeys,
cow house with loft: verge parapet to left; vents in brickwork to centre.
Loft has 4 circular pitching holes with boarded doors between first and
second and third and fourth from left; 3 cow house doors to centre with
blocked narrow vents between; window between first and second door from
left; 2-bay open front to left and large C20 door to right. East range:
one storey and loft, cow house and loose boxes: stone-coped verge parapet
to right; C20 flat-topped eaves dormer off-centre to left; vents in brick-
work to loft above cow houses. Cow house to left has 2 two-leaf boarded
doors with flanking narrow vents, that to right with rectangular overlight;
2 small windows to right and larger window off-centre to left; blocked
door to right. Loose boxes projecting south of farmyard enclosing wall;
3 two-leaf boarded doors, 2 to left with rectangular overlight. Cart entrance
to yard at left with roof continued over; circular pitching hole in right-
hand gable end; catslide roof at rear over small pens with low boarded doors.
West range: 2-bay cartshed to right. Low cow house to left with 2 two-leaf
boarded doors alternating with 3 two-light wooden casements. Dovecote to
rear of cow shed: square plan; pyramidal roof and louvred square cupola
with pyramidal cap; boarded door to north. Interior: nesting boxes in
walls with wooden ledges; central potence with ladder. Red sandstone
rubble enclosing wall to south with coping, central boarded gate, and
mounting block adjoining to south; low curved walls projecting to north
forming roughly semi-circular pound within the yard.
