Farmhouse, now house. Probably C15, partly re-modelled early C17 with later
additions and alterations. Timber framed of cruck construction with painted
brick infill, plain tile roof. 2-bay hall with later cross-wing flush to
right. One storey and attic to hall, 2 storeys to cross-wing; framing:
irregular square and rectangular panels, 3 from cill to wall-plate with
long straight tension braces to cross-wing; irregular fenestration, 3 late
C19 casements in panels of framing to hall with 2 prominent late C20
gabled dormers in roof slope above, one 3-light late C19 casement to each
floor in cross-wing with fixed-light window to right on ground floor;
roughly central entrance, C20 boarded door under Tudor arch; 2 re-built
red brick stacks to hall, one on ridge to left and other in front immediately
to left of door. Interior: timber frame substantially intact; 3 true
arch-braced cruck trusses, formerly with Alcock apex-type B. The roof (at
the time thatched) was severely damaged by fire in 1984, destroying the top
parts of the cruck trusses, and has since been raised and totally re-built.
