4/227 The Red House


Farmhouse, now house. Early C19 with later additions and alterations. Red
brick, hipped slate roof with axial stacks in roof slope to left and right.
2 storeys; 3 bays, that to centre slightly projecting, 16-paned glazing bar
sashes with gauged heads; central entrance, pedimented Tuscan doorcase with
half-glazed door under wreathed and radiating fanlight with imposts and key-
stone. Interior: in the hall a flying staircase with cast-iron balusters.
The house formerly had 3 storeys and the hipped roof dates from 1952.
