Farmhouse. Circa 1600 with some later additions. Roughly coursed
yellow/grey sandstone with ashlar dressings; plain tile roof. E-plan;
projecting gabled wings and central full-height gabled porch. 2 storeys
and attic. Plinth; integral brick lateral stack to front off-centre
to right and large central external stone lateral stack at rear with
red brick top. 5-window front; 2-light double-chamfered mullioned
stone windows; small square attic windows with chamfered brick reveals;
central C20 half-glazed door to porch with flat-arched lintel and
old nail-studded boarded door set back behind with strap hinges. Probably
C19 lean-to-rubble addition to left with lateral brick stack. Right-
hand return front with 2-light first-floor and attic windows and ground-
floor C19 three-light-framed metal casement probably replacing earlier
window (see dressed stone of former window in wall to left). Probably
C18 or C19 one storey and attic wing at rear. Interior: rectangular-
panelled timber framed cross-walls; hall: ovolo-moulded spine beam
with run-out stops resting on scroll brackets carved out of posts;
large open fireplace with ogee-stopped chamfered lintel; old boarded
cellar door; C18 corner cupboard has door with 6 raised and fielded
panels; chamfered doorway to old winder staircase. First-floor ceiling
beam is said to rest on plain brackets carved out of posts.
