GV II

Farmhouse, now house. Mid-C18 with mid- to late C19 alterations and
additions. Thinly squared and coursed grey sandstone; C19 planted
timbers with pebbledashed infill beneath eaves; plain tile roof.
L-plan. 2 storeys and attic with 2 storey rear wing. Plinth and
plat band; central C19 gabled semi-dormer with 2-light wooden casement
and finial; integral brick end stack to right and external brick end
stack to rear wing. 2-window front; 2- and 3-light wooden casements
with depressed relieving arches; half-glazed door to left with gabled
porch. One-storey lean-to in angle at rear. Interior not inspected.
The planted timbers probably represent the height the eaves were raised
in the C19 (see gable end). This house occupies a prominent position
in the village, close to Shoreham (q.v.) and the former Free School
(q.v.).
