Farmhouse, latterly pair of cottages, now disused. Mid- to late C16
and late C17, largely rebuilt and extended in the mid- to late C18.
Uncoursed and roughly coursed yellow and brown sandstone rubble with
gritstone dressings; timber-framed gable end to right with weatherboarding
and corrugated iron cladding; plain tile roof. 3-cell plan. Framing:
square panels. One storey and attic. Three gabled eaves dormers with
2-light wooden casements; integral brick end stack to left and brick
ridge stack off-centre to right. 3-window front; 2-light wooden casements
with segmental brick heads (right-hand arch collapsed) and alternating
with a pair of dooorways (that to left with segmental heart);straight
joint to left. Interior: ground-floor room to left has C16 cross-
beamed ceiling consisting of chamfered beams and joists with plain stops and
large open fireplace. C19 staircase. Possibly timber framed cross walls.
Roof above right-hand end has C19 purlins. The Court House stands
within a large and complex moated manorial site. Salop S.M.R. no. 633.
