House, now divided. Probably C15 or C16 with c.1600 alterations and
C19 additions. Timber framed, of cruck construction, with painted
brick nogging and left-hand gable end rendered, partly rebuilt and
extended in brick; plain tile roof. 3 framed bays, probably part of
a former hall house. Framing: square panels, 3 from sole plate to
wall plate. One storey and attic. Gabled eaves dormer off-centre
to left with 2-light C19 wooden casement; integral brick end stack
to left and brick ridge stack off-centre to right. 3-window front;
2-light mid- to late C19 and C20 wooden casements; pair of boarded
doors between first and second windows from right. Interior: 2 full
cruck trusses with cambered tie-beams; central ground-floor room with
chamfered spine-beam and joists; large open fireplace with chamfered
lintel and well-preserved bread oven. This is probably part of a
former hall house, the central ground-floor ceiling and stack probably
inserted in the former open hall c.1600.
