Farmhouse. Late C16 and C17 with late C19 alterations. Rendered timber
frame, partly rebuilt in painted coursed sandstone rubble and C19 brick;
plain tile 3-span roof. Roughly square plan of 3 parallel ranges. Framing:
square panels, internally,and rendered externally. 2 storeys and gable-
lit attic. South front: roughly central brick stack in first valley,
truncated external rubble and brick end stack to right and C20 external
brick lateral stack at rear. 2-window front: late C19 three-light wooden casements,
segmental-headed to ground floor. Boarded door off-centre to left with
C19 gabled brick porch. Triple-gabled return fronts. Interior: right-hand
ground-floor front room with moulded beams, and C17 fireplace with chamfered
reveals, carved stone lintel, and fluted frieze; left-hand ground-floor front room
has C17 fireplace with chamfered wooden lintel returned to chamfered
dressed sandstone reveals; early C18 corner cupboard on first-floor landing
has pair of doors with 3 raised and fielded panels each and H-hinges,
flanking fluted pilasters with moulded bases and capitals but no entasis,
moulded round arch and dentil cornice, breaking forward over key with
3 flutes and shaped lower edge. Chamfered beams throughout. Ground-
floor rear room with probably C16 chamfered wide joists; chamfered posts;
timber framed dividing walls. Many early C18 panelled doors.
