Cow houses and cartshed, now partly studio. Mid- to late Cl7 with C18
and late C19 alterations and additions. Timber framed with red brick
nogging on sandstone rubble plinth, partly rebuilt in C18 uncoursed
red sandstone rubble with red brick and grey sandstone dressings; weatherboarded
timber framed cartshed. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys. Probable former
C17 barn of 3 framed bays with one C18 bay and C19 two-bay cartshed
to west. Framing: C17 square panels, 3 from sole plate to wall plate.
North front: large C20 gabled semi-dormer off-centre to left with 2-light
small-paned casement. Two central 2-light C20 wooden casements, half-
glazed door to left and 2 leaf boarded door to right; cartshed to far
right. South front: gabled loft dormer to left and C20 roof light to
right; scattered small C19 and C20 casements, and 4 boarded doors.
Gable end to east has exposed truss wih tie-beam, 2 collars, queen struts
and v-struts; 4 inserted C20 casements between framing. Interior: C17
collar and tie-beam trusses with queen struts; pairs of purlins. The
C17 part of the building was probably formerly a 3-bay barn, converted
to cow houses in the C18 when a new barn was built to the south (not
included on this list). The farmbuildings occupy a prominent position
in the village, just to the east of Woolstaston Hall (q.v.).
