3/61 South Farmhouse
Farmhouse. Late C17, extended and remodelled in the mid-to late C19.
Painted brick on red sandstone ashlar and red brick plinth; 2-span
plain tile roof. C17 block with C19 addition to north-west; 2
parallel ranges aligned north-east/south-west (see straight joint in
south-east front to left of door); remodelled in a Tudor Gothic style.
2 storeys and attic. Chamfered plinth to C17 range; 2 gables to front
with scalloped barge boards and finials and gabled dormer to south of
north range with 2-light leaded casement; ridge stack to north range
with 3 diagonally-placed brick shafts, and external C17 brick end stack
to rear of south range with 2 star-shaped shafts. 3-window front;
first-floor C19 wooden cross windows and ground-floor 3-light wooden
casements with transoms, all with returned wooden hoodmoulds; central
half-glazed door with chamfered surround and C19 gabled wooden arch
with chamfered posts, arch-braces, boarded tympanum, scalloped barge
boards, and panelled finial. Left-hand return front has 2 first-floor
blocked C17 flat-faced mullioned stone windows. Small C20 addition
