Farmhouse. Early to mid-C17 with mid- to late C19 alterations and
additions. Timber framed with painted brick nogging, refronted and
extended in red brick; plain tile roof. Framing: small square panels
(3 from sole plate to wall plate) with long straight tension braces;
small rectangular panels, 4 from sole plate to wall plate. Hall range
of 2 framed bays with wing of one bay at rear and projecting gabled
cross wing to east of 2 framed bays. One storey and attic with cross
wing of 2 storeys and attic. South front: central brick ridge stack
behind ridge and central brick ridge stack to cross wing. 2 large
gabled eaves dormers with 2 x 2-light C20 metal casements. 3 ground-
floor windows; 2- and 3-light C19 wooden casements with straight-sided
arched heads, C20 door off-centre to left with C20 gabled porch, and
boarded door to far left. Left-hand gable end has exposed collar and
tie-beam truss with queen struts, and C20 two-light casement. C20
lean-to garage adjoining to left. Right-hand cross wing with small
C19 straight-sided arched attic casements, pair of first-floor C20
two-light metal casements and ground-floor C19 three-light wooden casement
with straight-sided arched head. C20 half-glazed door in left-hand
return with C20 lean-to porch in angle and C19 addition adjoining to
right with gabled semi-dormer and ground-floor 3-light wooden casement.
Much timber framing visible at rear. Cross wing has tie-beam truss
with 2 collars and 2 pairs of queen struts; small gabled wing at rear
of hall range has collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts. Interior
not inspected.
